I have a love hate relationship with my gps. One minute we’re getting along fine and she’s directing me to my destination. Then without any type of warning, she loses her signal, leaving to me to navigate the unknown streets of Atlanta all by myself. However, when I get lost, I’m forced to explore my surroundings and connect with everything around me. And because of that, I usually discover something pretty neat along the way. For example, I’ll pass a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try or a store I love, and had no clue it was even in the area.
When I get lost, I learn new things about this amazing city that I live in. So, here’s the lesson that I’ve learned after getting lost a gazillion times: even when I’m lost, I’m really not. Sure I may have veered off the beaten path so to speak, but isn’t life about the journey and not the destination?
So often we forget to enjoy the ride because we’re so focused on reaching where we’re going and life passes us by. I said all this to say, next time you’re out and about running errands, you should get lost in whatever wonderful city you live in because you never know what hidden treasures you may find.
