4 Reasons you should shop at a thrift store

Yesterday I went thrifting and my life has been forever changed! I have friends who swear by shopping at thrift stores. They all have different styles that I love! I always say I’m going to give it try and I’m so glad I finally did. At Park Avenue, I purchased a blazer, a cute maxi dress, and a 2nd dress I plan to wear as a swim suit cover, all for less than $12. To all my pro thrifters, I know that may not seem like much of a bargain to you, but to me, it was mind-blowing. And here are 4 reasons why everyone should give thrifting a try:

1) You get more bang for your buck. They also have sales and coupons too, just like one of my favorite stores, JcPenney! Plus, I don’t think I’ve ever paid $4 for a maxi dress, even with a coupon.

2) Develop your own style. When I noticed the very unique style of a young lady I work with, I had an inkling she was a thrifting queen!. So on Friday, I confirmed my suspcions and asked her where she shops and she goes thrifting at least twice a week.

3) It’s a mini treasure hunt. It definitely takes patience sifting through the many different sizes and styles of clothing. But once I found my maxi dress, I knew I’d struck gold! I got a surge of energy and began moving through the racks with a new zest for life, anxiously awaiting my next find, which leads me to my next point.

4) They also have name brand clothing. When I picked up the only pink blazer in my size, I was ecstatic. The fact that it was from Old Navy was just icing on the cake. I can’t wait to throw it with a pair of jeans and heels, and jazz up a casual outfit.

So, the next time you find yourself looking for something to wear to make yourself stand out at work or an event, and you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg at an expensive boutique, try thrifting. I promise that your life too, will be forever changed.

As always, this is from my heart to yours.
